End of the Lubick era

Several reports suggest the Sonny Lubick era at Colorado State University is over. There are suggestions that Lubick may have been forced out circulating as well. Having been at CSU for the start of the Lubick era and watched a program go from nothing to one of the best program for student athletes in the country it will be sad to see Lubick go. Hopefully in leaving with time remaining on his contract Lubick will be able to be a strong force in shaping the post-Lubick era at Colorado State University.

Colorado State victory makes Monday morning easier

I'll freely admit that I was pretty nervous. The combination of a 13-game loosing streak and UNLV being a 2-point favorite for UNLV's homecoming game Saturday evening made for a real possibility that UNLV would beat the Rams for the first time in years. Sure there were all sorts of things that one can point to showing why CSU should win the game. The fact remains that CSU lost several games that they should have won in the midst of this streak. However, the Rams' 48-23 victory makes it a little easier to go to the office on Monday. The Rams' slide has raised the speculation around Coach Sonny Lubick's possible retirement. It is ironic given that what has made Lubick so successful is that his teams always have heart. Only once in the 13-game streak did the team seem defeated by their own lack of motivation. And that game, last week against Air Force, now seems a one-time event. Whatever happens the Sonny Lubick bobble head on my desk will remain proudly in place.

Colorado State in the road to the Superbowl

This afternoon's AFC championship game brings a couple of Colorado State University alumni back to the Centennial State. Pittsburg has two outstanding linebackers in pro-bowler Joey Porter and his CSU teammate Clark Haggans.

Better yet as a partisan 'Stater' although three of the Steelers have Colorado schools in their college days, none of them are from the home of the Buffaloes.

Disappointing start

#9;" align="right" /> Each year it seems as though time moves along at a faster pace. Somehow it is once again time for the start of the collegiate football season. Several games were affected by Katrina but the annual Colorado State University vs. Colorado game started the Rams season. As happened last year it was a disappointing game for the Rams whose hail-mary play failed and the Rams came up on the short end of a 31-28 final score.

Tough loss for the Rams

The Colorado State Rams suffered a tough loss Friday night. After a mediocre first half the Rams bounced back, entirely on the back of quarterback Bradlee VanPelt.
